Hazel McCanne Student Branch

The Texas State University student branch of ACEI was named in memory of Dr. Hazel
McCanne, a professor of Early Childhood Education in the education department. It was started in 1970 on the Texas State campus.

Membership in the Texas State student branch benefits future teachers by involving them in activities related to teaching. It also offers opportunities to share ideas and interests with other groups and people committed to children.

Dues & Requirements

Dues are $50 each year. Dues will get members a one-year subscription to the ACEI magazine, Childhood Education.

Cords are $10. However, members are also required to gain 4 hours of community service and 40 basic points by the end of the semester to receive their cords. Community service hours do not roll-over from semester to semester, but basic points may roll-over for one semester if dues have been paid. These may be gained through volunteer activities, bake sales and other fundraising events.
