It was started in 1970 on the Texas State campus.<\/p>\n<p>Membership in\u00a0the Texas State\u00a0student branch benefits future teachers by involving them in activities related to teaching. It also offers opportunities to share ideas and interests with other groups and people\u00a0committed to children.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dues &amp; Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Dues are $50 each year. Dues will get members a one-year subscription to the ACEI magazine, Childhood Education.<\/p>\n<p>Cords are $10. However, members are also required to gain 4 hours of community service and 40 basic points by the end of the semester to receive their cords. Community service hours do not roll-over from semester to semester, but basic points may roll-over for one semester if dues have been paid.
